The Golden Belt Mystery: Countdown to Round Seven
At three in the morning, an old man appears in my locked bedroom and drags me into the stairwell to hide. Moments later, someone unlocks my front door with a key. He calls me his son and warns me never to wear the mouthguard for Sunday's boxing match. But my dad is only fifty-two and is supposed to be back in our hometown. This man claims to be seventy-two. He reveals an old injury only my dad has and tells me secrets no stranger could know. His predictions come true one by one, and the brother who has stood by me for six years begins to feel like a stranger. Meanwhile, the old man desperately trying to save me is slowly turning transparent. Who is he, and why is he even more afraid than I am of seeing me fall?
