Poor woodcutter Shen Dachuan, while cutting firewood on Baishi Mountain, discovered a white dragon locked by nine mysterious cold iron chains for three years. To save it, he sought a blade through the rain and made fires day and night, finally severing the dragon lock with his firewood blade. After regaining freedom, the white dragon intended to repay him with gold and silver, but Shen Dachuan only begged it to save his critically ill daughter. Since then, old grievances of the dragon palace, tidal crises, and water disputes between two villages have come one after another. An encounter between a mortal and a dragon allows kindness to flow continuously like water and quietly changes everyone's destiny.
