He opens his eyes and returns to 1983, just as his wife is about to throw herself into the river with their daughter in her arms. A hopeless gambler in his previous life, he is determined to defy fate and change his destiny in this one. He ventures into the river in the dead of night and catches a hundred-jin giant black carp, paying off his debts in one stroke and leaving his creditors stunned. When his jealous second uncle reports him, he turns the tables by exposing his uncle's theft, sending him to prison. When a local bully poisons the reservoir to destroy it, he catches him red-handed with the help of the police. He turns a stagnant pond into a treasure trove, leads the entire village in building factories, and rises from a gambling addict to the richest man in the county. His ending is brighter than anyone could have imagined.
