Lu Qianqian, a young woman from Shanghai, travels alone to Lhasa to escape the marriage her parents have arranged for her. There, she unexpectedly meets Luo Zhuijiacuo, the head of a prominent Tibetan family. Though seemingly aloof and restrained, this devout young man dotes on her at every turn. He even travels all the way to Shanghai to help her escape her engagement banquet. From falling in love on the Tibetan Plateau to studying abroad, from a blissful newlywed life to a mining disaster and family turmoil, the couple endure separation and trials, learning to protect one another. Lu Qianqian also grows from a conventional bank employee into a writer, ultimately finding the career, love, and family she chooses for herself.
