Hua Wu transmigrates into a cannon-fodder widow whose husband died right after their marriage. In the plot, she observes a three-year mourning period for her fallen husband, Shen Yanci, only for him to return triumphantly to the capital with Xie Guyun, his white-moonlight love pregnant for three months, and coerce her into drinking poison for his child's sake. Dropping her gaze, she smiles lightly, "This mourning, whoever wants to keep it can keep it!" To reverse her fate, she targets Shen Yanzhi, the aloof, taciturn, and immensely powerful eldest young master of the Shen family.
