The story of Qin Huaijin, the Grand Princess of the Great Qi Dynasty, who rises against all odds to become emperor. Trapped in a chaotic imperial court where everyone is obsessive and absurd, she remains clear-headed and composed despite years of oppression. The former emperor is obsessed with finding lookalikes for his beloved and neglects state affairs. The Empress Dowager is fixated on distinctions between legitimate and illegitimate heirs and delights in palace intrigue. Her younger brother, the Crown Prince, claims to have come from five thousand years in the future and recklessly launches a coup, plunging the court into turmoil. As the former emperor lies critically ill, he decides to pass the throne to Qin Huaijin, making her the dynasty's first female emperor. On the eve of her enthronement, various factions successively attempt to seize power. Qin Huaijin pretends to be weak and patiently bides her time, only to strike back with thunderous force during her enthronement ceremony, purging the treacherous ministers who plotted rebellion. She then consolidates her rule, protects the nation, brings peace to the realm, and establishes her legendary legacy as a great female emperor.
