On the Glorious Heaven Continent, humans and spirits coexist. The young Ling Chuan awakens seemingly worthless soul power and forms a contract with Huang Xiaolong, an amnesiac remnant soul of a true dragon. Together with Wen Zhouzhou, Tong Yan, and Xue Xue'er, he forms a team and undergoes trials, venturing through four great sacred temples to collect their badges. Along the way, they discover that the seal imprisoning the Heart-Devouring Nightmare Demon King is weakening. Just as Ling Chuan's team wins the Glorious Heaven League championship, the Demon King breaks free. Ling Chuan and Huang Xiaolong unite as one, while their spirit companions evolve in sync. Drawing upon the power of all living beings, they slay the Demon King. After succeeding to the throne of Spirit King, Ling Chuan retreats to a small town with Huang Xiaolong, returning to a carefree life as a young man.
