In a year of severe drought, Tang Fusheng uses half a ladle of his family's remaining water to revive a sacred Fire Pomegranate seed, which grows into a colossal tree reaching the heavens. The Vermilion Bird from the celestial realm transforms into a proud yet kind-hearted little flame sparrow and descends to the mortal world inside a White Jade Purifying Bottle. Huai Xi Village is struck by one disaster after another, including water shortages, landslides, and flash floods. Despite the tremendous cost to its divine flames, the little sparrow helps the villagers break through mountains to find springs and clear waterways, refusing even the merchants' lavish offers. When a devastating flood arrives, it burns up its own life force to blast apart the enormous boulder blocking the water and protect the entire village. Later, it is reborn through the spiritual fruit of the divine tree. United in heart, the villagers and the divine sparrow help one another overcome their tribulations and restore a peaceful life.
