Three-and-a-half-year-old Jiang Nuonuo is running a high fever and is heartlessly thrown into the freezing, snowy deep mountains by her son-preferring, patriarchal grandmother. When hanging by a thread, she awakens her talent, able to understand the inner voices of plants and wild beasts. A giant wild boar recognizes her as its ancestor, a small white fox comes to repay a favor, and a century-old wild ginseng moves into her old bamboo basket. Nuonuo is escorted back home by wild boars, facing the scheming of toxic elders and the jealousy and framed plots of others. Relying on her wild beast partners, she protects her parents and brothers, breaks through heavy waves of turmoil, and uses mountain fortune to lead the impoverished Third Branch to rise against the wind and prosper the whole family.
