A modern person travels through time into Chen Qian of the Ning Dynasty. He first stands up for Zhou Yunxi, offending the powerful Zhao Mingcheng, then attracts the Empress's attention through his poetic talent, and breaks free from the Zhou family's shackles by starting a stinky tofu business. After resolving a debt crisis and saving Zhou Yunxi, he presents a cement formula to help the Empress pardon Zhou Dingbang. Finally, he shines brightly at Du Xiao's disciple-admission ceremony, enters the court as an official to assist the Empress, defeats political opponents' plots, grows from a down-and-out scholar into a new favorite in the imperial court, and reaches the pinnacle of his life.
