Chen Shao, the sixth prince of Great Yan, is a time traveler. Just as he arrives, Emperor Chen Yuan suffers a disastrous defeat in a personal military campaign: 500,000 troops are wiped out, and he is captured by the Northern Barbarians. To keep each other in check, the Empress Dowager and two powerful ministers push the powerless Chen Shao onto the throne as a puppet emperor. Chen Shao activates the 'Stars Shine Bright' System, which lets him draw absurd yet incredibly powerful emperor and general character traits by completing tasks involving wealth and the nation's fortunes. Under the Empress Dowager's surveillance, powerful ministers' control, his brothers' struggles for the throne, and foreign enemies advancing south, he searches for a chance to turn the tables. Through humorous commentary and outrageous situations, the story follows his struggle for imperial power, political schemes at court, and the crises threatening his country.
