Lin Sheng is a poor young herb gatherer from Taoyuan Village. His father fell to his death at Soulbreak Cliff three years ago, leaving the family in debt to Liu Heigou. Zhou Yanhong broke off their engagement because Lin Sheng was poor. When Liu Heigou beats Lin Sheng while demanding repayment, Lin Sheng's blood activates his ancestral black jade pendant, granting him the Lin family's legacy of Qing Nang bone-setting techniques and medicinal tea. He cures Bai Xiuxiu, Er Lengzi, and Mr. Wang, a trading company owner, then sells aged-tree medicinal tea to repay his debts. He also saves Su Wanling's father, partners with Su Pharmaceuticals to distribute his tea exclusively, and establishes a cooperative to help villagers become prosperous.
