Ye Lingxiao, a disciple of the Tianji Temple on Mount Qingcheng, descends the mountain on his master's orders, carrying an ancient marriage contract to the Zhao family to fulfill a promise to repay a life-saving debt made years ago. Just as Zhao Qinghan is being forced into marriage by Lin Tianyu, Ye Lingxiao humiliates Lin Tianyu in public with the marriage contract. He then uses the long-lost Taiyi Divine Needle technique to cure Lei Wanshan's mysterious poison and exposes Zhao Zhenhai, the Zhao family's second uncle, as the poisoner, subsequently taking control of the Zhao Group. After seeing through a counterfeit painting scheme, he befriends Qian Ying, the richest man in the city, and joins forces with Lei Wanshan to thwart Lin Tianyu's hostile takeover. He discovers that the mysterious organization Shadow is manipulating events from behind the scenes. He storms the Black Shark arena alone and intimidates Chen Biao, the leader of a Shadow stronghold. Unexpectedly, Zhao Qinghan is kidnapped in a plot by the remaining members of Shadow. Sensing the warning from the jade pendant she wears close to her body, Ye Lingxiao rushes to the Wanhao Hotel and breaks in to rescue her.
