Endowed with a heavenly eye, he excels in seventy-two transformations, and his physical body is resilient, capable of shattering and regenerating. As the Investiture of the Gods war begins, he follows Jiang Ziya to conquer King Zhou, repeatedly making extraordinary contributions. Zhao Gongming descends the mountain to assist Shang, and Yang Jian disrupts his formation with transformation arts, destroying the Sea-Calming Pearl. When the decisive battle at Mengjin arrives, he faces the Seven Monsters of Meishan, fighting to the death with Yuan Hong who also masters the Eighty-Nine Profound Arts, exhausting all his resourcefulness, and finally subduing the seven fiends. All the way slaying demons and breaking spells, experiencing numerous mortal deadlocks, he remains unlisted on the Investiture of the Gods, and ultimately achieves sagehood in the flesh.
