While praying for blessings, noblewoman Lu Jiajun is ambushed by Chouniang. Her carriage driver is murdered, and her maid Caiyue is infected with a heart-devouring parasite. Chouniang steals Lu Jiajun's appearance and pushes her off a cliff. Three months later, Lu Jiajun survives and returns to the capital, only to discover that Chouniang has impersonated her and married Crown Prince Xie Yuncheng. No one believes her when she tries to reveal the truth. Coveting the phoenix-shaped birthmark on Lu Jiajun's waist, Chouniang repeatedly attempts to kill her and silence her forever. After narrowly escaping death, Lu Jiajun receives treatment from the divine physician Gu Ming. With Caiyue's help, she gathers evidence, reunites with the Crown Prince, and exposes Chouniang's entire conspiracy before everyone. In the end, the wicked are brought to justice.
