Mountain gate assessment, Shen Yan gets the bottom ranking, judged by everyone as having insufficient cultivation aptitude. Yet on the assessment testing platform, he accidentally triggers a long-dusty six-pillar ancient mechanism. To explore the origin of the mechanism, he, along with assessment supervisor Gu Qingheng, contemporary Wen Yuwan, and top-ranked Pei Xuance, break into the Scripture Pavilion and the underground mechanism hall. Everyone deciphers layer upon layer of mechanism mysteries, shatters the inherent cognitive notion that "ranking represents strength", and discovers that what the mechanism searches for is never the strongest person in power. At the end of the story, new patterns emerge on the stone tablet, and a bigger mystery has just begun to unfold.
