Zhao Hai is reborn in the 1980s, just as his fiancée's family sets him up in a honey trap to extort money from him. He exposes their scheme and breaks off the engagement. After separating from his family, he receives a patch of barren land on the back mountain that nobody believes in. Drawing on his mountain-foraging skills, Zhao Hai harvests wild wuling ginseng and earns his first fortune. He and his childhood sweetheart, Jiang Lu, gradually fall in love. After overcoming his enemies' repeated attempts to sabotage him, he establishes a wild mountain produce cooperative, leads the villagers in developing local industries, and guides the entire village onto the path to prosperity.
