Instead, he gathered evidence, called the police, and turned the tables on a creditor who had forged a loan note, sending him straight to the security station. The immortal companion he takes over is not a majestic fox spirit, but a foul-mouthed, greedy yellow weasel named Third Master Huang, who lies around all day scrolling through the Underworld’s social media. He boasts to everyone, “Black and White Impermanence are my card-game buddies, and Judge Cui is my drinking pal.” Then, when an evil cultivator comes to claim his life, Third Master Huang tears open the gates of hell with a single swipe of his claw. Turns out this fellow really does hold an official position in the Underworld.
