Eight years after returning to the city from the mountain village where they grew up together, siblings Fu Yu and Fu Tao reunite with Jiang Qiao, who got into Qinghe University through work-study programs. Fu Yu falsely claims his family's fortunes have declined, and despite his glamorous appearance, he cannot answer common-folk common sense like "two starch sausages for five yuan" and "must cancel auto-renewal in the first month of membership." Jiang Qiao sees through the lie with a "poor person test," and then catches the siblings hiding in a five-star hotel reciting "Encyclopedia of Essential Knowledge for the Poor"—turns out Fu Yu is the sole heir to the Fu Group, and he faked being poor just to keep her. A romantic tug-of-war concerning social standing, trust, and sincere hearts unfolds, and finally, amidst fireworks and sparklers, the two join hands to cross the chasm between poverty and wealth.
