Lin Wan, a pampered university graduate from the city, heads to a remote mountain village to teach in order to earn extra points toward her postgraduate recommendation. Initially reluctant and eager to escape, she is gradually touched by the left-behind children, especially Xiao Shitou, and by the warmth of village life. Abandoning her pursuit of personal gain, she decides to put down roots in the countryside. Alongside Chen Yu, a former volunteer teacher, she gently protects the children's dreams of receiving an education. Through their shared efforts, they find healing and grow together, embodying the sense of responsibility of young people, educational equality, and the Chinese dream of rural revitalization.
