Maohai and Maoya, Famine Refugee Children Become Little Household Heads in the Mountains
Ten-year-old Maohai takes his younger sister Maoya and embarks on a journey fleeing famine, accidentally gaining the ability to travel back and forth between ancient and modern times. With the help of modern old man Grandpa Yu, he trades chestnuts and mushrooms from the mountains for grain, rice, and clothes, settling down in the valley with his sister and new partner Xiaohua. From a crude shack to a warm brick house, from half a piece of black cake to a full table of hot meals, the brother and sister, relying on diligence and kindness, befriend warm-hearted neighbors, welcome back separated relatives, run their small family prosperously, and fill ordinary days with warmth and hope.
