The Copper Ring and the Gold Ring
In the 1980s, laid-off female worker Xie Yumei suffers injustice at her husband's family home because of their preference for sons over daughters. A copper ring she has worn for fifty years exposes lies that have shaped half her life. Resolutely, she sets out on her own with her mother-in-law and daughter, opening a clothing shop with her tailoring skills. Three generations of women support one another, starting from a shabby storefront and building a business through their own hard work. In the end, they resolve family conflicts and embrace a brand-new life of their own.
