300,000 Spent, Seeing Through the Neighbors' True Colors
Zhao Yuan spent all 300,000 of her savings to install free water purification equipment for her old building's neighbors. She originally wanted the elderly and children to drink clean water, but because she refused Sun Guilan's demand to haul the free purified water to a restaurant, she was rumored to be poisoning it. Even though tests passed, the crowd still followed the trend to surround and block her, and even personally dismantled the water purification equipment. Until the old pipes were polluted, many people fell ill, and the whole building lost its water, they finally paid the price. Zhao Yuan also finally understood that kindness is not an infinite bottom line, and good deeds also need boundaries. Helping people is a matter of sentiment, not an obligation; true goodwill requires both warmth and principles.
