A mermaid princess saves the Demon Lord with a blood pearl, but someone else takes credit for her kindness. Blinded by hatred and believing the lies, the Demon Lord imprisons the mermaid, forcing her to shed blood tears and carving out her scales to make clothing. He continues until she has shed all her blood tears and dies. After the truth is revealed, the Demon Lord uses forbidden magic to bring the princess back to life. However, his deception and insistence on keeping her by his side hurt her all over again. After enduring the loss of her child and betrayal, she gradually awakens from her submissiveness and learns to protect herself. She saves the Demon Lord when he suffers heavenly punishment, but calmly refuses to reconcile with him, choosing instead to live independently in the human world.
