Xiao Jingheng, Prince of Jingbei, is betrayed by his Princess Consort, Liu Ruyan, and General Zhenbei, Zhao Cheng, who conspire against him, leaving him on the brink of death. Having narrowly survived, he conceals his intentions and carefully plots to uncover the truth. Joining forces with the Dowager Princess Consort, a military governor's secretary, and Lin Sulan, Zhao Cheng's wife, he gradually exposes evidence of crimes including embezzling military provisions and concealing weapons. At the birthday banquet, he publicly restores his good name and eliminates the threats within his princely household. Thereafter, he and Lin Sulan stand side by side, rebuilding the Prince's residence and finally bringing peace to Jingbei.
