Zhiqiang, an air-conditioning installer, wants to help his younger brother Xiaolei raise enough money for his bride price. Tempted by the high wages offered by the unscrupulous foreman Diao San, he abandons the full safety equipment provided by Li Jianguo's legitimate construction team and leads his fellow workers straight into a trap. What appears to be a high-paying daily-wage job is actually riddled with tricks: security deposits and deductions, substandard protective equipment, and orders to work at dangerous heights in severe weather. While working on the thirtieth floor of an unfinished building, Xiaolei finds his safety rope on the verge of snapping, leaving his life hanging by a thread. After a life-and-death rescue, Zhiqiang finally realizes his mistake. He gathers solid evidence to defend their rights and leads his fellow workers back to safe working conditions.
