In the 1970s, a harsh famine and heavy snowfall seal off the mountains. The old hunter Zhao Zhiqiang has yet to recover from his back injury when his younger brother, Zhao Zhigang, arrives with a debt note, demanding that Zhao Zhiqiang hand over his three widowed daughters-in-law as repayment. Zhao Zhiqiang publicly vows to repay the debt within ten days. He then cuts ties with his younger brother and heads deep into the mountains with his bow and arrows. At the brink of desperation, he activates a hunting system that heals his back and grants him the ability to form contracts with hundreds of beasts and acquire their innate abilities. From then on, he not only clears his debts but also gives his three daughters-in-law a prosperous and independent life despite the famine.
