Three-and-a-half-year-old Jiang Nuonuo is running a high fever and is heartlessly thrown into the freezing, snowy deep mountains by her son-preferring, patriarchal grandmother. A giant wild boar recognizes her as its ancestor, a small white fox comes to repay a favor, and a century-old wild ginseng moves into her old bamboo basket.
