Mortal youth Ye Chen, with zero spiritual roots, harbors fragments of the "Chaos Dao Canon"—spells without any rules, where fire spells at the start summon an ice wall, and a casual wave turns a sea of fire into dandelions. At the Duanyue Sect's outer gate, he meets the food-loving chubby Zhu Fugui who sets up formations with snacks, and the toxic doctor girl Su Xiaowan who uses gu insects as medicine. The three form a team, breaking through the sect's grand tournament all the way with bizarre, unreasonable tactics, winning five consecutive victories to claim the championship, shocking the third-rate sects. However, the "Life and Death Gu" inside Su Xiaowan's body alarms the Middle Region's upper sect Shenxiao Sect, and the phenomenon of Ye Chen rewriting the arena rules draws even more mysterious gazes.
