Upon waking up, Shen Zhiyan, a PhD in engineering, finds himself transported into the body of a young boy from a poor farming family! With his family so desperately poor, spending his days farming is out of the question. Shen Zhiyan turns to schooling and decides to change his fate through the imperial examinations. Mathematical problems too difficult? He can solve the Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art with ease. Farming tools inefficient? He improves them on the spot. Spinning wheels too slow? He builds better ones from scratch! While others spend ten years studying by lamplight, he uses his modern engineering knowledge to overcome every obstacle with ease. From the village school to the county examinations, from the examination halls to the imperial court, this time he will use the mind of an engineering PhD to outshine the entire Great Sheng!
