In 1992, at the Northeast border forest farm. Forty-five-year-old down-and-out hunter Chen Yuanshan, in order to support his wife and children, sold his hunting rifle and exhausted his savings. After working hard for twenty-two years, he was ultimately despised by his wife Zhao Guifen for being poor and incompetent. On the day of the divorce, he left with nothing, and his son Chen Zhiqiang also chose to follow the wealthy mountain goods merchant Gao Wanlin, leaving him only a drafty mountain-guarding wooden cabin, a bag of corn, and the old hunting rifle left by his father. When Chen Yuanshan ventured into the mountain alone, he ran into Natasha, the daughter of a northern border trade caravan, being chased by a pack of wolves. Relying on his many years of hunting experience, he killed the wolf king, and the fresh blood accidentally activated the ancestral "Mountain God Hundred Beasts Scroll", granting him the wolf king's strength and speed.
