During a severe drought in ancient Suzhou, Su Jinniang, an embroiderer cast out of her home by Liu Jinfeng, her husband's mistress, unexpectedly gains the ability to travel between the modern world and ancient times. She earns money through her embroidery in the modern world to buy rice, grain, and medicine, then returns to ancient times to support her mother and daughter, Xiaoman. When a pair of insoles reveals the true beauty of her family's traditional Su embroidery, orders pour in. The whole family gets involved, villagers lend a hand, and she takes orders through livestreams. They build a new house and provide disaster relief to the entire village, leaving Liu Jinfeng fuming with helpless rage. Finally, Su Jinniang uses an excavator to build an irrigation canal for the village, saving its future development.
