The legitimate daughter of the Defender of the Country Manor, Shen Lingyi, was betrothed by the late Emperor to the Crown Prince of the Eastern Palace right upon her birth, and has been able to catch sporadic dreams of future fragments since childhood. At the age of five, she attended the Crown Prince's full-month banquet and accidentally ran into Qingluo, the confidante maid of Noble Consort Pei, secretly swapping Xie Chengjie, the Crown Prince born by Empress Lu Zhaoning, with the second prince Xie Chengzhang born by herself. Taking a risk, Shen Lingyi carried the Crown Prince back and exposed the conspiracy to Lu Zhaoning. To prevent Noble Consort Pei from committing malicious acts again, the Empress played along and kept it secret from the outside world. Qingluo was silenced that very night, and Pei Wanrong always fancied herself successful in swapping the sons.
