The protagonist is recommended by others to apply as a servant at the Sun family. At first, he is stubborn in words and boasts of his backbone, but in his heart, he looks forward to experiencing the days of clinging to the powerful through this errand. After entering the mansion, the head steward Sun Caidie finds him clever and exceptionally arranges for him to serve in the eldest miss's courtyard, with a monthly salary and cultivation technique benefits far exceeding the original specifications. A traveling companion discovers mysterious runes of unknown origin on the protagonist's body, speculating that they are cross-planar or ancient remnants, suggesting that the runes are secretly guiding his fortune. Coincidentally, the State Preceptor of Great Wu visits the Sun family, and the steward sends the protagonist to deliver a rare, one-of-a-kind Mind-Clearing Tea. The protagonist cannot help but drink most of the tea soup directly, and intends to have his companion explore the origin of the treasure afterward.
