Shen Qingwu has impersonated the widow of the Marquis of Jing'an for three years, living under the threat of a sham marriage being exposed. Lu Chenzhou returns with amnesia, bringing along Liu Ruyan, the woman who saved his life. As Shen Qingwu investigates the secret of a jade pendant, she discovers that the exile of the Shen family, Lu Chenzhou's ambush, and his amnesia all point to a major military grain scandal. With the Wei family's forces closing in, Shen Qingwu clears her family's name. She exposes the sham marriage herself, sacrificing her identity as the Marquis's wife to bring down the powerful mastermind behind the conspiracy. She then establishes public granaries and an accounting school for women, moving from relying on the marquis's household to survive to opening a door of her own.
