Princess Rongjia, A Ning, reunites with her biological father, Ren Shi'an, and his family, only to be treated coldly. The entire family favors their adopted daughter, Ren Zhizhi, while her elder brother, Ren Chengfeng, repeatedly humiliates and schemes against her. A Ning subsequently uncovers the truth: the current Madam Ren, Yuan Zhen'er, is her mother's younger female cousin. She had an affair with Ren Shi'an, murdered A Ning's biological mother, seized her maternal family's property, and deliberately abandoned A Ning in the mountains when she was little. A Ning appeals for justice before the emperor, and the Ren family is stripped of its estate and punished for its crimes. All the evildoers meet miserable ends. In the end, A Ning lays her mother to rest and finally finds happiness with Yan Yunzheng.
