In the near future, a global crisis of rule-based weird tales breaks out, and contestants from various countries are teleported into a bizarre space to compete, with victory or defeat tied to their nation's fortune and resources. Daqian contestant Lin Bei enters rounds six to eight of the weird tale, themed around nostalgia for a 1980s Chinese village, facing tests that seem simple but hide deadly traps, such as repairing a television, hitting a cat, painting a wall, buying a popsicle, and choosing a light bulb. Relying on his deep understanding of rural life in the 1980s and his rigorous logic, he repeatedly sees through the traps, leads Daqian out of danger, and finally clears it perfectly.
