After his parents and elder brother pass away successively, Shen Chen has his family property divided and plundered by his uncle's and aunt's families, receiving only a dilapidated woodshed and the Peach Blossom Spring spirit gourd left behind by his grandfather. The spirit gourd's water can strengthen the body, cure illnesses, and hasten crop growth. Using this, Shen Chen grows top-grade agricultural products, reconnects with old acquaintance Lin Shiyi to open a rural cooperative, and repeatedly fights back against greedy relatives. After his uncle's family suffers a crushing failure in speculation and falls into heavy debt, causing multiple disturbances before finally receiving punishment, Shen Chen leads the entire village in developing an industrial park, and finally marries Lin Shiyi, defying heaven and changing his fate to reap a fulfilling life.
