In the 1970s, in Shiba Village in the south, village woman Liu Meili's husband, Zhou Jianguo, went out to save someone, fell into the water, went missing, and his life or death is unknown. Meanwhile, her husband's family—his eldest uncle and eldest sister-in-law Zhou Jianfang's family—began eyeing the Zhou family property, and even coveted the precious mysterious traditional Chinese medicine fragment recipe in Zhou Jianguo's hands, repeatedly coming to the house to make trouble and forcing her to sign away the family business. The outwardly fierce and home-protecting Liu Meili refused to back down, on one hand entrusting people everywhere to look for her husband, and on the other hand picking up the medical skills taught by her husband to stand on her own, going through many twists and turns. Ultimately, she rushed toward her own academic future, living out the era's independent and self-reliant major heroine.
