I leased a barren mountain and spent three years raising free-range chickens. Just as my 5,000 chickens were about to be ready for market, with an expected profit of 300,000 yuan, the village director showed up with his sister-in-law and suddenly demanded 180,000 yuan in annual rent. He even threatened that if I refused to renew the lease, I wouldn't be allowed to take away a single chicken or piece of equipment. I smiled and agreed. That very night, six transport trucks and two cranes arrived to clear the entire mountain. All 5,000 chickens and every piece of equipment were moved out. When the director returned the next morning, he found the mountain completely empty. I had already established a new base at a neighboring quarry. He cut off my feed supply, so I secured the exclusive county distributorship for the provincial agricultural science academy. He set up roadblocks to extort tolls, but an inspection team arrested him on the spot.
