A widowed woman in a village takes pity on a pregnant Dragon God and saves him. As he lies dying, the Dragon God entrusts his dragon egg and life-scale to her. She raises the little dragon as her own son. Later, a monk who hunts demon dragons comes to her door, insisting on taking the child away. When a heavenly tribulation strikes, the young dragon risks his life to protect his mother, the village, and the child of someone who once harmed him. In the end, he survives the tribulation and transforms into a human, staying by his mother's side until she grows old. After she passes away, he transforms into a silver elm tree and keeps watch over her grave. Whenever the wind blows, it sounds as though he is calling, 'Mother!'
