During the Northern Song Dynasty, there was a daughter in the Zhu family named Chanyuan. Born unable to eat meat, she vomited at the smell of fish and gagged at the sight of meat; at eight she could write prose, and at ten she could compose poetry. Upon learning that her father was going to arrange a marriage for her, she traveled alone to Baishuiji to build a thatched hut, and later retreated into the West Cave of Mount Nanyandang. Meeting villagers who had fallen ill, she cured them instantly with medicine. This behavior angered the nearby pharmacy owner, who spread rumors. Fortunately, Prefectural Judge Lin Zhao passed by, investigated the truth, cleared Zhu Chanyuan's name, and simultaneously brought to light the forces entangled behind the scenes.
