Han Hua, a graduate student in history, is obsessed with the woman in red lying inside an ancient desert coffin. He voluntarily travels to the Roland Desert to conduct archaeological research, but accidentally falls into a tomb and travels back to 1915, to the ancient city of Kayun, with the help of a snow lotus-scented pouch inside the coffin. There, he meets Yun Ti. The bandit leader Hei Sha seeks to obtain evil power and ruthlessly hunts the living beings of the Western Regions, setting fires, poisoning the land, and polluting sacred springs in an attempt to sacrifice the entire region. Using the scented pouch to travel through time, Han Hua joins forces with Yun Ti, bringing modern equipment to fight alongside her through countless dangers. As he awakens the full power of time and space, he finally destroys Hei Sha's conspiracy, reverses the tragedy that would have buried the ancient city beneath the yellow sands, protects the creatures of the snowy mountains, and reunites with his destined lover across a century.
