College roommates Zhang Wei, Liu Hongjun, Chen Fan, and Qin Mo travel together to ancient times, only to start out as condemned prisoners. After escaping with their lives, they join a mountain stronghold, working together through strategy, technology, execution, and public relations. They defeat bandits and establish the Four Seas Trade Alliance, rapidly rising through businesses such as brewing, fragrances, and newspapers. However, they face repeated crackdowns by officials and merchants, exposure of their identities, and the covetous gaze of Prince Pingxi, forcing them to abandon their stronghold and move to the Liangshan marshes. From struggling to survive and build businesses to establishing their own independent power, the four are preparing to rebuild their forces with an even more formidable presence.
