Underworld boss Pei Zheng, in order to repay a debt of gratitude, enters into a marriage engagement with his life-saving benefactor. However, a master diviner prophesies that he is cursed with the lonely star of fate, destined to bring death to his wife and child. Using unscrupulous means, he finds a poor student, Xia Ansheng, for a flash marriage, intending to use her as a scapegoat to block the catastrophe. After marriage, the gentle and radiant Xia Ansheng slowly thaws his icy heart. Yet Pei Zheng, strictly adhering to his promise of repaying gratitude, deliberately suppresses his romantic feelings. When Xia Ansheng suffers a near-death experience during difficult childbirth, Pei Zheng is heartbroken, only to uncover the truth: the one who saved him back then was Xia Ansheng all along, while a supporting female miscreant had continuously deceived and plotted against him. Years later, he reunites with the survivor Xia Ansheng, and this time he vows with his life never to let go again.
