The public restroom in the night market had been closed for four years. Out of kindness, shop owner Chen Jianguo opened his own shop's restroom to the public for four years, paying the water bills and repair costs out of his own pocket. He put up a sign suggesting a voluntary one-yuan contribution, but a maliciously edited video by a food blogger triggered an online backlash against him, and he even received an order to rectify the situation. After enduring one injustice after another, Chen Jianguo finally welded the restroom's iron gate shut. Tour groups stopped coming, plunging the entire night market into trouble, and stall owners took turns pressuring him. Only after everything that happened did everyone finally understand that another person's kindness should never be taken for granted.
