Daya, a little girl from the Northeast, tumbles headfirst into Qingrang, an otherworld where all things possess spirits: stones can breathe, and sweet potatoes can turn into spirits. With just a firewood-poking stick, she wakes up Gunyan, the primeval ancestral deity sleeping in the mountain belly. From then on, a palm-sized, sharp-tongued, arrogant little spirit pet named Gunzi joins her side. Traveling together, the human and pet venture through realms, gather Tuanzi, Tiejia, and Yeying, befriend a group of loyal companions, and also run into a mysterious person in a bone mask and a mountain-swallowing soul fragment sealed inside a crystal. From the root cellar to the royal capital, from bickering over the bedside to the winds rising over Qingrang and ten thousand spirits bowing at the dais, what she wants to protect is not a game, but the family in this realm who are willing to acknowledge her. Season 1, 16 episodes, a mix of laughter and tears, passionate and stirring.
