In the 1990s in Zhengyang Village, kind youth Li Dashan pumped water on a rainy night to save neighbor seedlings, but was instead blackmailed and harassed by villagers Liu Guixiang and her husband. Greedy and speculative, Liu Guixiang trusted a dishonest merchant to buy inferior water pumps, missing the timing to save the seedlings and causing crop destruction. Unrepentant and biting the hand that fed her, she ultimately suffered the consequences of her actions and became isolated. Meanwhile, steadfast in his original intention and hardworking, Li Dashan led the villagers to establish an agricultural machinery cooperative, making a comeback to light up a new rural life.
