Chunli falls off a cliff while trying to escape an arranged marriage and loses her memory. She is rescued and taken in by Jianye, a young man with a limp. The two fall in love and have a son, Fukang. Xiuqin, who secretly loves Jianye, becomes jealous and repeatedly schemes to frame Chunli. She not only incites Jianye's mother to suspect Chunli but also takes advantage of Jianye's absence to have Chunli kidnapped and taken deep into the mountains. She even pushes Jianye's mother down an earthen slope and blames Chunli, causing Chunli to be driven out of the family. Er Dan eventually exposes the truth, and Jianye breaks off his relationship with Xiuqin. Guozhu's father unexpectedly discovers that Chunli is Huahua, the daughter he lost many years ago. Overcome with guilt, Xiuqin leaves the village. Chunli regains her memories and is finally reunited with Jianye and their family. Amid the conflicts and entanglements of rural life, everyone eventually makes peace.
