A veteran mechanic left behind by the times spends all his savings buying discarded machine tools and starts from scratch with a small repair shop that nobody cares about. He wins orders through his technical skills, but repeatedly suffers setbacks due to business management, quality control, and safety issues. In the end, instead of relying solely on his own craftsmanship to keep things going, he brings together the experience of veteran workers, the skills of younger employees, and standardized management, helping a group of laid-off workers regain stable incomes.
